Tinsle Tornadoes beat OG on the road

Tintwistle batted first on a day where they were looking for their first official win of the season.

The boundaries were set big at local rivals Old Glossop and after losing Joe Hennicker early, Charlie Harris and Jack Morris set about finding the ropes whilst building what proved to be a match winning partnership. Both Charlie & Jack reached 25 with considerable ease, this was the 2nd time Charlie has retired this season & the first time for Jack. Tom Chambers came in at 4 and hit 2 fours on his way to 11 before he was run out. There were not outs for Ben Tinsley & George Ainslie at the end, who played well to see Tintwistle finish on 83-3 off 20 overs.

Jack Morris opened the bowling and showed why he is a contender for more 2nd team action as he returned fantastic figures of 2 overs, 2 maidens, 0-0, not to be sniffed at on a day when Old Glossop needed to get off to a good start to stand any chance. Tintwistle fielded well throughout, including claiming 3 run outs, one of which was an impressive direct hit from Charlie Morris. Charlie Harris finished with 3 overs 1-7. Leg spinner Tom Chambers rounded off a good day with 2-5 off his 3 overs. Lenny Harrison had 3 overs 0-15, and despite bowling for the most part at Old Glossop’s premier batsmen J.Donnelly (28 retired), he showed a consistent line & length and is becoming a useful part of the bowling attack. There were good catches form Joe Hennicker & Jack Morris along he way. Old Glossop eventually finished 66-7 off their 20 overs. Well done Tintwistle u13’s on a landmark first win of 2016.

Tinsle Tornadoes face Woodley at home next Wednesday in the penultimate game of this stop start season.
