one step closer to our new home

For those of you who know the club well and our plans for the future will know about our plans for a new club house. For those who have visited the Speedwell ground in recent months will know how much we need a new home.

The last 6 months have been consumed by our efforts to make the vision a reality and this week we made a massive step forwards. Our plans to build a new block and stone clubhouse in the same footprint were signed off by HPBC planning.

What these means is we are one step closer to having a facility to protect the future of the cricket club for many years to come. It also means we have a facility that the community and use and enjoy which is much needed in the village. We also continue to work with the HPBC to improve the parking on Speedwell close and hope to see progress on this in the coming months.

As you will appreciate a new facility of this nature doesn’t come cheaply and it’s need a mammoth effort to raise the funds. A culmination of funding from Sports England, ECB, HPBC and other organisations, along with club generated funds has meant we are very close to our target. Every extra penny counts and two wonderful friends of the club are looking to raise money for the clubhouse by running the Great North Run in September. Please take a look at their just giving page and donate if you can.

Hopefully we will have the build completed in the Spring/Summer of 2022 and if you want to see the old place one last time please come along to our end of season party Sat 4th September from 6pm.
