Background
Tintwistle Cricket Club was formed in 1835 and is located on Speedwell in the village of Tintwistle. Tintwistle (or 'Tinsel' as
pronounced by villagers) is located in the High Peak at the western end of the Longendale Valley. A section of our village sits within
the Peak District National Park and is designated a conservation area.
Our Aims
Whilst the club has traditionally supported local cricketers for many years, over recent times, we have become so much more than
this. Our aim is to provide a safe and inclusive facility for all the community to benefit from. The clubhouse is a community hub
and available for other local groups and societies who look to deliver activities to support our communities physical and mental
wellbeing. Please get in touch with us here for further information.
The Clubhouse
In 2022 Tintwistle Cricket Club built a fantastic clubhouse at Speedwell that will support the club into the future and create a community
hub we can all be proud of. We are hugely excited about the benefits this facility will bring to the village.
The clubhouse is available to hire and we cater for both Private and Corporate Events. For more information click
here.
Cricket at TCC
We currently run three open age Mens teams, a Ladies Team and four Junior teams (under 11s, under 13s, under 15s and under 19s). The
Juniors play under the name 'Tinsle Tornadoes'. All teams play in the
Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League.
Our 1st XI play in Division One of the DCCL. We have fantastic practice facilities and warmly welcome new playing members. Senior practice
is held on Thursday evenings during the summer and indoor winter nets usually begin in February prior to the start of the season.
We have a strong junior section managed by qualified coaches and hold dedicated weekly coaching sessions. These take place on Friday nights
during the cricket season. Tintwistle Cricket Club is an English Cricket Board (ECB) registered 'All Stars Centre' and provides fun cricket
activities for children aged 5-8. Beyond this we have our Tornadoes programme from 8 years old and above. We have had young
cricketers who have progressed to Derbyshire U18's trials and selected for the County's winter programme.
Mathew Woodward is TCC's Director of Junior Cricket and helps to ensure consistency across the delivery of our cricket programme from senior
level right down to our All Stars. We take the welfare of our young players very seriously and Carley Hart is the Club's Welfare Officer.
Please note all club captains and junior coaches have Safe hands and First Aid training and are available to raise concerns to in the first instance.
Parents should note that it is our aim to introduce cricket to children of all ages and you will be made to feel very welcome
at our coaching sessions. For more information on our All Stars or Junior programmes click
here. If you would like to speak to one of our
officials, please contact us here.
